DEVELOPING Eco-friendly AGRICULTURE

A report from the Commission on Sustainable Agriculture and Climate Change  (CCAFS) in 2011 identified the threats for agricultural environment from unsustainable resource usage. Specifically, chemical fertilizers usage in China (383.6 kilograms per hectare) is contributing to non-point source pollution. Furthermore, approximately 180-million mu farmland (11.7 million hectares) has been suffering from heavy metal pollution in Mainland China. Kiwa Bio-Tech is committed to developing eco-friendly agriculture upon which we can minimize the negative impact of chemical fertilizer on the farmland soil and reduce our environmental footprint.

Eco-friendly agriculture refers to the production and processing system that sustain the health of the soil, plant nourishing crops and provide safe food to people. Our agricultural development concept is inherited from the natural farming that emphasizes building communion and kinship between humankind and nature.

Taking A Whole Industry Chain Approach

Our approach to eco-friendly agriculture takes the industry chain into account. For this reason, our research and development team adheres to the philosophy of natural farming to study the benefits of the microorganism for cultivating healthy farmland soil. Our researchers strive to develop biological organic fertilizer products that enable us to eliminate the pollutants in the soil and recover soil fertility. We are also dedicated to establishing eco-friendly agriculture industry chain to ensure safe processing system and eco-friendly agricultural market standardization. As a result, we are able to guarantee the protection of natural resources and agricultural sustainability.

OUR CORE TECHNOLOGY

To achieve our goal of developing eco-friendly agriculture, our research team has developed KETS biological technology.

The History of KETS Biological Technology

KETS biotechnology was developed from KETS technology. The latter was established in the U.S. approximately 100 years ago by Dr. George Earp-Thomas and commercialized and improved in Japan. In 2005, Prof. Changsheng Liu introduced KETS technology into Mainland China to amend pollution and soil to improve crop plant and economical plants’ yields. KETS stands for “Earth Total Support”, the technology was also named after Dr. Earp Thomas and Mr. Soda.

In 1905, American microbiologist and medical scientist, Dr. Earp-Thomas discovered that there are huge amount of microbes in fertile soil and mineral compounds. At the same time he also discovered decomposable microbe and named it “Earp Thomas bacteria”.

From 1925 to 1930, Mr. Takesuke Komori started distributions and sales of Earp Thomas bacteria flora in Japan. The bacteria have been found to lead to speedy efficient improvement in the whole system, which eventually lead to efficient, low cost and miraculous outcome in Japanese market.

In 1953, Dr. Earp Thomas invented fermentation machine for the “Earp Thomas bacteria” and started selling the machine in the same year.

In 1995, Japanese scholar Mr. Soda got biological technology concession from Dr. Earp Thomas.

In 1997, Mr. Soda synthetized the fully functional beneficial microbe flora by compounding the Earp-Thomas bacteria and anaerobic bacteria that was known as Pasteurella. Mr. Soda also established the research institute of Earth Total Support (KETS) and named the synthetic bacteria “KETS bacteria.”

In 2005, Mr. Changsheng Liu introduced KETS technology to Mainland China.

In 2010, the KETS Environmental and Agricultural Microorganism Technology Research Center of Institute of Geographical Science and Natural Resource Research, Chinese Academy of Science was established to develop KETS technology in China.

In 2017, Kiwa Bio-Tech established close strategic cooperation with KETS center; aiming to upgrade KETS biotechnology to KETS core technology.  The latter will be applied to be the criteria for developing eco-friendly agricultural standard system.

KETS Bacteria

Kiwa has developed two types of bacteria as the core technology, including Kiwa patented compound yield-increasing bacteria and KETS Compound Microorganism Flora. The bacteria in our products can increase the decomposition of the organic matters in soil to produce and transform available nutrients for plants. Of importance, the active bacteria contribute to decreasing the impact of the heavy metal on the farmland soil.

Patented Compound Yield-Increasing Bacteria

Kiwa patented compound yield-increasing bacteria is compound by endophytic bacillus subtilis and bacillus mucilaginosus in scientific proportion. The bacteria could release the soluble phosphorus and potassium, calcium, sulfur, magnesium, iron, zinc, molybdenum, manganese, and other medium and trace elements in the soil. As a result, the elements could activate the soil and enhance the efficiency of the organic biological fertilizer.

After our fertilizer products are applied to the farmland, the exopolysaccharides flowed from the active bacteria is the adhesive of the regiment structure of soil. As crops grow, the bacteria can loosen the soil, improve the ability of soil to retain water and fertilizer, increase the organic matter in the soil, and activate the potential nutrients in the soil.

Kiwa is committed to maintaining the effect of the products after they leave our hands. Our products enable the bacteria to quickly breed, secrete the growth stimulator and many enzymes, which consequently improve the resistibility of the crops and inhibit the growth of pathogenic bacteria. As a result, the bacteria could significantly prevent the soil-borne disease, decrease the disease index of the continuous cropping and reduce the successive cropping obstacles if applied successively.

KETS Compound Microorganism Flora

KETS technology takes KETS compound biological bacteria flora as the core. There are 65 kinds of beneficial bacteria contained in the KETS bacteria, including various actinomycetes, ammonia-nitrogen decomposition microorganism, nitrobacterium, denitribacterium, nitrite degrading bacteria, cellulose-decomposing bacteria, various photosynthetic bacteria, various lactobacillus, thermophilic decomposing bacteria, hypothermic decomposing bacteria, and halophile, etc. 40% aerobic bacteria and 60% anaerobic bacteria comprise the KETS compound microorganism, which determines the unique feature of KETS microbe fermentation technology that is different from the traditional aerobic fermentation method.
